DIY KEY FOB SELF-PROGRAMMING

About KeyProgGuide

KeyProgGuide is an independent, free reference for vehicle owners who want to program their own replacement key fobs without paying dealer labor. We document owner-side procedures for hundreds of make, model, and year combinations across the North American market, from 2000 model-year cars still on the road today to the latest releases.

The site exists because the information you need has historically been buried in 600-page owner manuals, scattered across forum threads, or hidden behind dealer service-information subscriptions. None of that is necessary. The procedures themselves are short, usually 5 to 10 minutes from start to finish, and once they're written down clearly, any owner can follow them.

Who Maintains This Site

KeyProgGuide is run by a small team of independent automotive enthusiasts and former locksmith-shop technicians. Procedures are pulled from manufacturer service literature, public-release owner manuals, technician forums (iATN, Mhh Auto, Locksmith Ledger), and a lot of field experience. Where a procedure cannot be reliably done at home, we say so plainly and recommend hiring a pro.

Editorial Standards

Every procedure on this site is written to the same template. Required tools listed up front. Difficulty rated honestly (Beginner, Intermediate, Professional). Time documented. Steps written so a first-time owner can follow them without prior automotive experience. We do not pretend every vehicle is DIY-programmable. Plenty of post-2014 vehicles with encrypted immobilizers genuinely need dealer or locksmith equipment, and we will not pretend otherwise to chase ad clicks.

How We Are Funded

KeyProgGuide is funded entirely through display advertising. We do not accept paid placements from key fob retailers, locksmith services, or aftermarket programming-tool vendors. We do not collect personal information from visitors beyond standard server access logs. See our Privacy Policy for the details.
